S. B. Farms is located near the center of the Delmarva Peninsula on Maryland’s
Eastern Shore. We are approximately one and one half-hours southeast of
Washington D. C. and Baltimore, MD. and two hours south of Philadelphia,
PA. An average of 38 inches of rainfall per year provides lush green
pastures on which to produce our Bison and hence our low fat,
nutritional red meat with its rich flavor.

The ranch is locally owned and operated by the Edwards family. Care is taken to use
as many agricultural “Best Management Practices” as possible to not
only provide a safe and healthy environment for the Bison, but to also
control nutrient and soil runoff into the Choptank River and thence the
Chesapeake Bay. The Edwards family has been an active member of the
Chesapeake Bay’s “Choptank Tributary Strategies Team” since its
inception. The ranch uses rotational grazing and has established
pastures which include native warm-season grasses.

The Bison are provided the best of care and are raised without the use of antibiotics,
growth stimulants or hormones. They are primarily left to graze the
adequate pastures, with each pasture having its own fresh water source.
The Bison cows have been carefully selected from established, renowned
herds, many of them having placed first, second or third in the East’s
premiere Bison Show and Sale.
